Sandal season is almost upon us folks and If like me, you are beginning to realise that your feet could use a little TLC, I have some tricks up my socks for making feet look and feel beautiful, and I’d love to share them with you.
You see, I know just how embarrassing feet can be. I am an all-season shoe wearer; in fact it is very rare you will find me in public with my toes peeping out. But with 2 summer weddings and a festival to attend this year, It’s finally time to embrace the sandal and set those feet free. Who’s with me?
When I was a child I was told I had ugly man toes, I also suffered with chilblains and fungal infections throughout the years so it’s safe to say I have had my fair share of foot woes. These tried-and-true foot care recipes keep my hardworking feet in prime condition throughout the year, and I know they will be helpful to you, too.

Cleanse
Herbal Foot Soak: Our feet are one of the hardest working parts of our body, so after a long day, mindfully washing our feet and soaking them in herb-infused water offers relief from tension, while also softening and tonifying the skin. Incorporating this into a weekly routine is a wonderful way to practice self-care without much effort.

1/2 Lavender Flowers
2 handfuls Chamomile flowers
Epsom salt, optional
Directions
Combine herbs together in large bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed
Fill large drawstring muslin bag with herbs and tie closed.

Add a few tablespoons of optional Epsom salt.
Once the water is at a comfortable temperature, place feet in basin, sit back, and enjoy!
Feel free to experiment with different ratios or herbs. Some other great herbs for a foot soak include; Peppermint, Lemonbalm, Comfrey, Yarrow, Dandelion Flowers, Red Clover, Rose Petals & Rosemary. Exfoliate
Invigorating Foot Scrub Recipe: When you’re looking to soften and work out some tough spots, a simple foot scrub can work wonders. I like to use this in conjunction with a pumice stone. Between the two, you can remedy cracked and hardened feet. Exposing the softer layers of skin will also help with the moisturising step, as your skin can better absorb the hydrating and skin-supporting benefits of oils and butters.
Ingredients
100ml sunflower oil
8 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops lemon essential oil
3/4 cup fine sea salt
Directions:
Add sunflower oil and essential oils to a small bowl.
Stir until completely blended
Add salt, a little at a time, until it reaches the consistency of wet sand. Depending on the grind of your salt, you may need a little more or a little less than 3/4 cup.
Bottle in an airtight jar and use 1-2 times per week to exfoliate and cleanse your feet.
To use:
After Foot Soak, Apply a generous amount of scrub and vigorously massage into feet, concentrating on the harder surfaces.
Use a pumice stone, when needed, to help soften calluses. Rinse clean.

Moisturise
Comfort from soreness and inflammation, moisturising works wonders on your hard-working feet! I like to keep it simple with this Homemade foot cream recipe. Natural, Rich and nourishing, I like to apply it before bed, don a pair of socks, to enjoy soft and hydrated feet come morning; With just 3 ingredients I couldn’t actually believe how easy this was when I first made it and how well it works for my feet. It saves me a fortune & honestly takes hardly takes any time at all.
Ingredients
1/2 Cup Olive Oil (or Almond or other carrier oil)
1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Beeswax Pellets
Optional 10 drops of Essential Oils.
Directions
Combine the Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and Beeswax into a large jar.
Put the jar in a saucepan and fill with water until it comes 3/4 of the way up the jar.
Heat on low and stir it until it has melted (About 5 minutes)
Now empty out the hot water from the saucepan and replace it with cold water to the same level. Put the jar back in. (This helps to cool the moisturiser down quickly if you are impatient like me)
Add your essential oil to the jar now if you are using.
To finish, use an electric whisk to quickly whip the ingredients into a moisturiser. OR if you don’t have a whisk you can use a fork and give it a good stir until the texture is thick and creamy.
Toe Top Tip: Check for nail discolouration, brittleness, and crumbling. While no one ever wants to talk about nail fungus, it’s a major inconvenience and causes many of us to feel self-conscious about being barefoot. You can try a home-made oil with coconut oil and tea tree, lavender or clove oil and treat daily or Check out our Anti-fungal Nail Oil designed to treat the condition naturally!
It’s important to note that nail fungus can look like other conditions, so if self-care isn’t helping and it is getting worse, we recommend seeing a qualified physician, particularly if you have diabetes!
Now no excuses. Hoping to see you confident and barefoot in the forest this summer.
